RAIN brought an end to Cambridgeshire's high-scoring Minor Counties match against Norfolk at Manor Park.

Play finished early in Norfolk's second innings with the home side on top, but both sides were in the runs during the first innings and Cambs amassed a good total of 325-8 from their 90 overs.

Tom Harvey's 80 and Brandy's 93 boosted the visitors' total and helped them to recover from 88-3 to 195-4.

Skipper Ajaz Akhtar put in a useful knock of 59 not out to further strengthen Cambs' position.

The loss of early wickets reduced Norfolk to 79-3 as Paul Swannell (4-65) and Harvey (3-107) began to make an impression with the ball.

However, the home side dug in and produced a stubborn middle-order fight-back to push the home side on to 341 all out and open a slender 16-run lead.

The Cambs second innings was less than convincing and Harvey (35) and Danny Law (45) proved to be the topscorers as the visitors struggled against good spells of bowling from Slegg (4-35).

With Cambs bowled out for 195 from 76.5 overs, Norfolk looked to be in a strong position and openers Amos and Rogers got their side off to a good start, sharing a partnership of 50 before rain stopped play.

Norfolk were awarded 11 points and Cambs 12 points.
