March Town captain Chris Ringham hopes his side can complete a rare hat-trick over Wisbech Town when they meet at Harecroft Road on Saturday.

March have won their last two games at the home of their Fenland rivals - they shocked them to win by 37 runs in the league last season and beat them by eight wickets in the quarter finals of the 20/20 Jaidka Cup last Thursday.

Ringham said: “Having beaten them in the Jaidka Cup last week, confidence is high, and we will be hoping for a repeat of that and last season.”

There are only 13 points between fifth place March and fourth place Wisbech in the Tucker Gardner League after both sides last league games were abandoned due to the wet weather.

Ringham said it was frustrating not to be able to go for five wins on the bounce against the league’s basement side, but he felt the call-off was the right decision.

He said: “It was definitely frustrating but the weather was horrendous. I walked across the outfield at 9.30pm just before the England game and it was still under water. It was the right decision.”

Ringham believes his side’s improved fortunes this season have stemmed from being able to select a settled side who know their roles.

He said: “We have been quite fortunate this year to have been able to pick a consistent team, so everyone knows there job. Everyone being available week after week lifts team morale.

“Saturday was a really good effort. All 11 players were out there trying to mop up the ground. It was a good team building exercise and showed the players’ commitment.”

Ringham is under no illusions about the size of the challenge that awaits his side against Wisbech.

He said: “Wisbech have got a very strong batting lineup. We are not going to just focus on two or three players because by doing that you can underestimate the other players.

“Our aim is to go out there to take 10 wickets and score more runs than them.

“I’ve only won at Wisbech three times in my life and two of those have been in the past year so we go there with confidence. Hopefully the weather will hold out.”
