MARCH Bears will host an open meeting on Friday as the fight to revive the club continues.

Chairman Barry Feetham pleaded for more support on and off the pitch last week after admitting that the Bears were “at an all time low”.

The club, who have represented March since 1968, are struggling with dwindling numbers of players and volunteers - prompting the resignation of captain Aaron Boxall.

But Feetham said he had spoken to Penny Chapman, Eastern Counties Rugby Development Officer, and John Taylor, Cambridgeshire Rugby Community Officer, and things were starting to look “more promising”.

He has arranged Friday’s meeting, which will start at 7.30pm at the Elm Road Sports Field, and has encouraged all rugby fans to attend.

Feetham said: “It is an open meeting for everyone who is interested in all types of rugby - senior, youth, junior, tag and touch.

“After the meeting we should have a clearer picture for the club and it looks more promising.”

Feetham has also arranged a “rugby ready” course to take place at the club on December 9, from 10am.

Eastern Counties Community Coach Tim Reed will lead the course, which is the first step towards coaching rugby. For more information contact Feetham on 07817 490285.
