WISBECH Town manager Dick Creasey will continue his search for new players ahead of tomorrow's match at home to Needham Market.

Creasey has admitted that bringing new players to the club has been difficult. He said: "There is room for new players at the club and I have been speaking to three or four, but we have found it difficult to bring them to the club."

He added: "There are suspensions coming up and we really do need to have players in place who can provide some much-needed cover so I will keep working on it."

While studying the transfer market, Creasey has been able to reflect on his team's first win of the season after the Fenmen beat 10-man CRC 2-0 on Saturday, but he was less than happy with his team's performance.

He said: "We were in control in the first half and we should have gone in at the break three or four goals up.

"After they got a player sent off, I fully expected us to go on and score more goals in the second half but we took our foot off the gas and sat back. I was not happy with our approach to the game at all."

It was a win however, and it came courtesy of the Fenmen's solid first half performance.

Creasey implemented a 3-5-2 formation, moving Danny Hammond to midfield, and it was Hammond who broke the deadlock after 12 minutes.

Hammond was fouled in the area and he stepped up to score his first goal for the club.

The home side were reduced to 10 men when Greg Gane received a red card for a bad tackle on Stuart Cobb, who had to leave the field with an injury.

Wisbech got the second goal they deserved on the stroke of half time when Darren Jimson rifled a shot past the CRC keeper.

However, the Fenmen were unable to take advantage of their extra man and they rarely threatened to extend their lead, despite introducing last season's Ridgeons Golden Boot winner, Liam Harrold, from the bench.

Also making a substitute appearance was former King's Lynn, Swaffham and Fakenham right winger Kieran Doherty, making his debut for Wisbech.

Creasey said: "I thought the different formation worked well but I will have to look at performances in training before I make a decision to play it on Saturday.

"We can build on our victory but I want more from the players. We have a very busy week or so coming up, with two difficult league games and an FA Cup match so we will have to be at our very best."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's match against Needham Market, Creasey said: "They are a good young side and it will be a tough match for us.

"Lee Hudson is nearly fit but I won't be sure of his condition until the weekend. The same applies to Stuart Cobb who has suffered bad bruising but no broken bones.
