The Hares put in a gutsy performance against Great Shelford Ladies in the Cambs Invitation Cup first round, but failed to make it into the next round after falling to a 4-1 defeat.
There was little between the teams in the first half an hour, with the Hares going close on a number of occasions.
Great Shelford, three leagues above the Hares, got two goals before half time.
This spurred March Town on and Emma Searle scored an excellent lob after good work from player-of-the-match Adele Munday, Emma Frost and Anna Hatcher.
The tie was put beyond March after Shelford notched two more, but the Hares’ heads didn’t drop and both Michelle Cracknell and Jess Harvey went close towards the end.
