WISBECH skydiver Jason Kierman has won gold at the British Nationals Skydiving Championships in Hibaldstowe, Lincolnshire.

Competing in the intermediate A class with the four-way sequential formation skydiving team Wingnutz, the team claimed a thrilling victory over eight rounds of competition.

Four-way sequential skydiving comprises a team of four people jumping from a plane at 10,500 feet and performing a sequence of different moves as many time as possible in 35 seconds, whilst falling at 120mph, before opening their parachutes. The team's camera flyer videos each jump for judging.

This is the first season of competition for Jason, who now runs his own electrical engineering company , has been skydiving for just over 3 years and has accumulated 435 jumps in that time.

The team has been training hard all year with a specific target of winning the National championships. This has been achieved with a training camp in Arizona, USA and numerous hours in the world's largest indoor skydiving simulator, a vertical wind tunnel, in Bedford.

Wisbech born and bred, Jason learned to skydive at Chatteris before branching out to compete at Langar Dropzone near Nottingham, where the current team was formed.

"This has been a thrilling climax to a hard year's training and is a fantastic reward for the time and financial commitments made by each member of the team," he said.

Jason, along with the other members of the team Darren Atter, Vince Lam, Andy Blevin and Tom Hartland on video, travel next to compete at the European Skydiving Championships in Spa, Belgium.
