Chatteris potter Joe Perry reached the quarter-finals of the Gibraltar Open last weekend.
Perry was beaten 4-1 by eventual champion Ryan Day in a last-eight clash – an exit that dashed his hopes of playing in the lucrative Players’ Championship next week.
Perry saw off Adam Duffy, Anthony Hamilton, Michael Wild and Jack Lisowski by 4-1 scorelines in previous rounds.
Only the leading 16 players on the one-year ranking list qualify for the Players’ Championship. Perry would have needed to win the Gibraltar Open to make the cut.
