Spalding I 6 March I 1

RELEGATED Spalding had too much for March as they rattled in six goals past the hapless visiting goalkeeper Scott Bamford.

The hosts showed they have the will to regain their place in the first division, scoring two goals in the first half and another four after the break.

March's only consolation came five minutes from time when Neil Liversedge smashed home a shot from a penalty corner but it was cold comfort.

March Town II 0 Ely City I 7

UNSETTLED March were no match for relegated Ely and only the heroics of the home goalkeeper prevented a heavier defeat.

Man of the match Matthew Lynn did his best to keep his side in the game but with little protection from the defence in front of him it was a thankless task.

Bourne III 3 March III 2

A YOUNG March squad struggled to cope with the experienced Bourne side, though the visitors did take the lead.

Stuart Fox fired home from a penalty corner to give his side the lead but the hosts immediately equalised from the restart.

After the interval, Bourne moved into the lead and increased that lead to 3-1. Daniel Woods pulled a goal back for the visitors and 'keeper Toby Odlin performed heroics to keep the score down but the equaliser would not come.

Cambridge South III 1 March IV 1

A TOBY Sutton strike looked to have won it for the visitors but the home side grabbed a late equaliser to claim the draw.

Cambridge had March on the back foot for much of the first half and the visitors were indebted to man of the match Joe Bennett in goal for keeping the scores level.

Sutton put the visitors ahead in the second half but Cambridge fought back to deny the hosts all three points.

March I 2 Long Sutton I 1

STRIKES from Emma Rawlinson and Lauren Oakman earned March victory against Fenland rivals Long Sutton.

Oakman saw an early effort ruled out by the umpires as March pressed but the visitors took the lead through a penalty corner shortly afterwards.

However, player of the match Verity Allen soon set up Rawlinson to drive home a fine strike from the top of the circle.

The winning goal for the home side came from a penalty corner when Oakman pounced on a rebound to drive home a deflected winner.

Home goalkeeper Julie Ingham performed well to help March preserve their lead.

CAMBS LADIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

March II 1 Newmarket I 7

A SOLITARY goal from Jenny Palmer wasn't enough to prevent March going down to a heavy defeat against their visitors from Newmarket.

Palmer's strike came with Newmarket already 5-0 up and the game all but over as Betty Williams in the home goal endured a tough return to hockey after a two-year interval.
