Gracjan Ciureja went into the lions den against an undefeated opponent and a hostile crowd on Saturday ... and emerged triumphant.
The 12 year-old Sparta ABC prospect beat Billy Gaskin by unanimous decision at his home show in King’s Lynn. Ciureja, in his seventh bout, produced an exceptional performance.
Other boxers may have been intimidated by the hostile crowd, but it inspired Ciureja who won every round.
Earlier in the night, 12 year-old Richard Smith showed he is one to keep an eye on. In only his second skills bout, he produced a display full of heart and skill against Kyle McKechnie, of Attleborough.
Coach Matt Lenton said: “It was by far Gracjan’s best performance to date against an undefeated boxer. I’m proud of both boxers. It was another great away day for Sparta.”
