MARCH Marlins were also in action in the second round of the Junior Fenland League at the Regional Pool, Peterborough on Saturday.The Marlins faced tough opposition from Boston, Saxons, Peterborough and Ely but the team put in a fantastic effort and recorded 17 new personal bests.First and third places went to Heather Nicholls aged nine in the 10 years 50m backstroke (pb) and in the 11 years 50m backstroke respectively. Ellis Westgate, 10, came third in the 10 years 50m freestyle and set a new personal best in the 10 years 50m backstroke.The nine years freestyle relay team of Danielle Westgate, Millie Patyn, James Vardon and Jamie Wilson, many of whom were competing in their first gala, finished third.Three girls set new personal best times, Chloe Jade Coulson, 9, took eight seconds off her 50m butterfly time, Charlotte Clarke, 12, took seven seconds off her 50m breaststroke best and Charlie Jay Cartwright, 9, took seven seconds off 50m freestyle best and also set a new personal best in 10 years 25m butterfly.Final points standings were Boston A 163, Peterborough 158, The Saxons 121, March 69 and Ely 64.
