WISBECH first team's Gary Freear has passed the 1,000-run mark for the third consecutive season. His century at St Giles on Saturday was a stylish way to pass the milestone but his team had to settle for yet another Tucker Division One draw.

The flat pitch at St Giles produced high scores from both sides and only two wickets fell as St Giles raced to a total of 290 from 45 overs. Bewley (130) and Saunders (92 not out) took advantage of the lifeless pitch to boost the home score.

Wisbech were not quite so assured with the bat and lost vital wickets early on. However, Gary Freear's 118 not out and Dan Mason's 50 not out kept the visitors in the game and pushed them to 231-6 at the close.

And it didn't get any better on Sunday when the first team lost their Rutland Division Two match at Barnack.

Good middle order innings from Sam Albutt (61) and Gary Freear (35) were not matched by the rest of the Wisbech batsmen and the visitors were eventually dismissed for 192.

The Barnack openers did make an impression with the bat and despite James Williams (2-41) bowling well the home team reached their target after 35 overs and with seven wickets intact.

The story was repeated on Sunday when Wisbech II lost at home to Huntingdon in Hunts Division Two.

Keith Jakings (24) and Ady Clare (31) proved to be the top scorers as Wisbech were bowled out for 162 after 44.1 overs.

The Huntingdon opening partnership put up stubborn resistance and by the time Paul Strickle (2-41) and John Strickle (2-42) got going, the visitors were comfortably on their way to passing the Wisbech score with six wickets remaining.

The only Wisbech victory of the weekend came at Grimston where Wisbech III recorded a good eightwicket victory in West Norfolk Division Four.

Only two home batsmen made it to double figures as John Mallett (5-26) and Mike Debenham (3-0) smashed their way through the batting order and dismissed Grimston for 67.

After a shaky start, Wisbech found their feet and Jason Smith (40 not out) helped them to their target after 21.4 overs.
