A HOST of important sporting fixtures have been called off after Fenland woke up to a blanket of snow this morning.
Wisbech Town’s clash with Leiston was postponed and March Town United’s mid-table battle with Long Melford also fell victim to the weather.
With pitches across Fenland frozen, Wisbech Rugby Club were forced to wait to contest their third round Senior Vase match with Lowestoft and Yarmouth.
Wisbech Reserves looked as though they would get the opportunity to continue their sparkling run of form away to Kershaw Senior A league promotion rivals Milton, but their game was abandoned at half time.
Wisbech had gone in at the break with the momentum after equalising just before the interval to make it 1-1, but the referee called a halt to proceedings due to the frozen pitch.
