March Town Cricket Club prepared for the new season by carrying out a revamp of their Burrowmoor Road ground as part of a country-wide iniative.
The Cricket Force Day, sponsored by Natwest, encouraged members of cricket clubs around the country to lend a hand to add vital renovations to their grounds – including cutting the grass, painting the pitch and replenishing kits.
Over 30 players, members and volunteers got stuck in on Sunday April 2 to help prepare the club’s facilities for the new season, carrying out tasks such as fitting new carpet, installing new nets, replacing dressing room doors and renovating spectator’s seats.
All helpers received a free t-shirt, and fish and chips were supplied to keep the hungry helpers fed throughout the day.
Club Chairman Les Mills said: “I would like to thank everyone who attended & helped on Cricket Force Day. It was great to see so many people getting involved in preparing the ground and our facilities for the new season.”
