NEALE-Wade Community College's under-18 football team are through to the final 32 of the English Schools FA Trophy.

The March team booked their place in the sixth round of the competition when they beat Cavendish High School 1-0 at the GER on Friday.

Cavendish proved a well organised and physical team who dominated territory and possession in the first half. But Neale-Wade defended well and held out to go into the break on level terms.

However, in the second half, Neale-Wade raised the tempo of their game and passed the ball considerably better.

They began to pose a greater threat on the Cavendish goal and broke the deadlock 20 minutes from time. The Cavendish 'keeper failed to deal with a high ball into the box and Aaron Bailey followed up to score with a decisive finish.

Cavendish went all out for the equaliser in a fast and furious final 15 minutes of play but were held at bay thanks to a very solid defensive display, particularly from Stuart Porter and Rob Menarry at centre half, and the ever reliable Ben Collett in goal.

Neale-Wade still needed an injury time goal-line clearance from full back Josh Westley and they held on to secure a good victory.

Their reward is a sixth round tie against St John Lewes School, Harpenden.

Stuart Porter, Robert Menarry, Dean Russell, Scott Welcher, Sam Murphey, Lewis Hilliard, Aaron Bailey, Elliot Welland, James Quinn, Robert Spendelow, Daniel Bryant, James Mortlock and Jason Bowler.
