EAST PREMIER B

Redbridge and Ilford I 3 Long Sutton I 5

SUTTON set down a marker with an impressive second-half display in their first league game of the season.

However, they were forced to recover from a slow start and the home side took advantage to open-up a 2-0 half-time lead.

The introduction of Jeremy Watt proved to be the turning point and he linked well with fellow debutant Dick Bee.

The visitors were a different side after the break and Gary Hales' hat-trick and a brace from Nick Bailey turned the game around.

Man of the match was 17-year-old right back Dan Batten who produced a fine display on his debut.

HA CUP ROUND TWO

Long Sutton I 3 City of Peterborough I 5

SUTTON produced another good performance but were knocked out of the cup by a talented Peterborough side.

Jeremy Watt's strike from a penalty corner gave Sutton a deserved 1-0 half-time lead.

But the visitors, who fielded a number of players from their Slazenger National League squad, won the game in a devastating 25-minute period in which they scored five.

Sutton were rewarded with two goals from Ash Taylor and Nick Bailey in the closing minutes.
