HOCKEY club captain Jonathan Shippey admitted Wisbech were beaten by the better team after their cup dreams collapsed in Guernsey.
The men’s first team crashed out of the England Hockey Trophy with a 6-3 defeat to the channel islanders in Saturday’s third-round clash.
“Our preparation was good but they came at us very quickly,” said Shippey.
“It was like The Alamo at the back and we struggled to get it forward. They scored after about 10 minutes and got another two quick goals.”
Gavin Johnstone, Joe Melton and Brad Apted scored Wisbech’s goals but the hosts, roared on by a crowd of more than 300, proved too strong.

“I’m disappointed but we lost to the better team on the day,” said Shippey.
“They are a very good side, very quick in midfield and up front. When they changed their players you didn’t notice because they were so well-drilled. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went on to win it.
