March Town bagged their fourth consecutive victory last Saturday against Dereham Town Reserves, but Hares boss Chris Bartlett is refusing to get carried away with his side’s new-found form.

A brace from Liam Merryweather - including a stunning 25-yard freekick - and further strikers from Matthew Barber, Shane Cooke and Ondre Odain helped the Hares to an emphatic 5-2 victory.

A man-of-the-match performance from midfield general Merryweather made sure that the Hares’ perfect record in 2016 remained in tact, and Barlett was pleased to see his side in scoring form ahead of a crucial fixture with King’s Lynn Reserves tomorrow afternoon.

He said: “It’s good to see that we’re gradually coming out of our mid-season slump.

“We conceded a couple of sloppy goals but it was a good overall performance and it was nice to see the goals shared out between a few players.”

Only five points separate March in 11th and Halstead Town in 5th, and Bartlett says the Hares have picked a good time to find their form.

“We’re getting closer to where we wanted to be at the start of the season,” he said.

“The important thing is to continue this form and to keep the same mentality going into the rest of the season.”

The Hares’ perfect 2016 record will be put to the test tomorrow afternoon when they travel to King’s Lynn Reserves, who are fresh from a 10-1 hammering of relegation-bound Needham Market, and Bartlett is wary of the threat they pose.

He said: “We’ve got a really tough game away at King’s Lynn but we’re going into the game on a reasonable run of form, so we’re confident that we can get something from the game.”

March have no injury worries ahead of their trip to Norfolk, and will be buoyed by the return to form of star-striker Ondre Odain, who bagged his tenth goal of the season against Dereham Town Reserves.
