THE Fenmen kicked off their United Counties League campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win away at Wellingborough Town.

Callum Reed gave Wisbech Town the perfect start with an eighth minute penalty.

But Wellingborough levelled four minutes later through Chris DiFante, who put the finishing touch to a good move.

Jon Fairweather restored Wisbech’s lead 10 minutes in the second half, deflecting an Ollie Gale shot into the net from 10 yards.

Nine minutes later Neal Spafford made it three, heading home from close range after Adam Milllson’s initial header from Stacy Cartwright’s free kick hit rebounded off the bar.

The Fenmen welcome Peterborough Northern Star to the Elgood’s Fenland Stadium tomorrow.
