WISBECH men's first team booked their place in round four of the Harrod UK Trophy thanks to a 7-4 victory at Worthing - and a brilliant five-goal haul from Brad Apted.

Again Wisbech had to recover from a slow start and Worthing opened the scoring in an end-to-end first period.

Apted levelled the scores and, after the home side regained the lead, Apted was once again on target to make it 2-2.

Man of the match Apted secured his hat-trick but Worthing netted an equaliser just before the break.

Apted turned provider when Andy Mills put Wisbech ahead and the Wisbech goal machine then produced a breathtaking individual goal to stretch the visitors' lead.

Luke Smith capped an impressive performance with a deserved goal and Apted took his tally to five to put Wisbech out of sight.

Despite the dismissals of John Shippey and Drew Harvey, Wisbech conceded only one goal in the closing stages.

Wisbech II were in the driving seat when they led 2-0 at home to Peterborough V but the visitors came back to draw 2-2.

Lee Peck's strike and a second from Karle Belding put Wisbech in control early in the second half but Peterborough scored two well-taken goals to steal a point.

Wisbech V stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games and remain top of Division Seven thanks to Saturday's 2-0 victory over Boston III.

Adam Fairbrother opened the scoring for Wisbech within five minutes and it was soon 2-0 thanks to Chris Clark.

Wisbech looked set for a feast of goals but Boston began to compete and the home side were unable to add to their tally.

- WITH Ed Sly out with a broken finger and Nick Bailey missing with a back injury, Long Sutton I were under-strength for their East Men's Premier B match at Colchester I.

But Sutton began well and opened the scoring with a goal from Jimmy Harrison. It was end-to-end stuff in the first half and the home side got back onto level terms before Mark Bryan's reverse stick shot put Sutton ahead again.

Colchester levelled the scores before half-time and took advantage when Stu Belding was forced off with an injury to take the lead in the second half.

Sutton were forced onto the back foot but they showed their battling qualities and in the dying seconds Nick Ellis tapped-in to make it 3-3 and grab a well-earned point.
