Wisbech Town joint boss Dick Creasey says he needs some time to consider whether he is the right man to manage the club next season.

Creasey returned to the club to help out following Steve Appleby’s resignation in September.

He was appointed joint boss alongside Paul Cousins in January when Scott Johnson stepped down to concentrate on his playing career.

Goals from Callum Reed and Danny White helped the Fenmen end their United Counties League campaign in 7th with a 2-1 win over Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday.

But Creasey says he feels the club underachieved in the league (they lost 14 out of 36 games) and plans need to be in place to make sure they fulfil their potential next season.

He said: “It was nice to carry on from where we left off after the Easter break and end the season with three wins.

“It wasn’t a great game to watch but we fully deserved to win.

“However, if you take our FA Vase run out of the equation we underachieved as a football club. We have not fulfilled our potential so we need to make sure we finish in a respectable position next season.”

Creasey says he and Cousins have already held discussions with the board but he was unsure about whether he would be involved next season.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed it but I now need to think about whether I want to commit myself to it or not.

“Anyone who knows me knows that if I do something I need to commit 100 per cent to it.

“Managing a football club is a massive commitment so I need to decide whether I want to or can do it.

“This club is very close to my heart. I’m not bothered who the manager is as long as the club goes in the right direction.”
