WISBECH Town boss Steve Appleby declared that Adam Millson was back to his best after the midfielder scored for the fourth consecutive game.

Millson was Boston United’s player of the year in 2008/09 but his progress was halted when he broke his leg twice in the space of 12 months.

However, the 22-year-old has helped power the Fenmen to the top of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division this season with a string of impressive performances.

Appleby said: “I remember him from years back when he was 100 per cent fit and he was a real box-to-box midfielder.

“After a couple of broken legs and some loan moves it has taken him a while to get going but now he is back to his best.

“He’s been exceptional for us this season, not just with goals but with his consistency.”

Chris Bacon converted a penalty and Millson grabbed a last-gasp winner as Wisbech came from behind to beat struggling FC Clacton 2-1 on Saturday.

Millson popped up with another goal last night as Wisbech beat Linton Granta 4-1 in the Cambs Invitation Cup first round.

Anthony Reeve, who was later sent off for stamping, Darren Jimson and Lewis Clayton were also on target, while Rogan McGeorge had a penalty saved.

The Fenmen have been drawn away at unbeaten United Counties League leaders St Ives Town in the FA Vase second round.

Appleby said: “I think it’s a very attractive fixture for the fans but I do wish we were meeting them in the quarter-finals instead.

“We are both very capable sides on our day and it will certainly be a tough game. I’m not gutted about it but you would hope to have an easier passage.

“It’s a competition that on our day we’re capable of winning and so are St Ives. But the league and promotion is the priority for us, the Vase is just a shot at glory.”

Appleby should have a full squad to pick from for tomorrow’s trip to Norwich United.
