Wisbech Town manager Dick Creasey says he is delighted to welcome back Stacy Cartwright to the club.

The defender, who left for Deeping Rangers last September, has rejoined the Fenmen.

The club has also signed striker Josh Ford from Spalding United and Creasey is in talks to bring in more players.

He said: “I tried to bring Stacy (Cartwright) back to the club when I first got back involved and then before the FA Vase game (against Sholing FC) but it didn’t quite happen.

“I kept pursuing him because he is the kind of footballer we want at this club. he has the right attitude for tthe game and I’m delighted to have him back.”

Creasey is also pleased to have Ford in the ranks - the 23-year-old scored 20 goals last season at Boston Town and Spalding United.

He said: “Josh (Ford) is a goalscorer. He has come through the leagues and had a good first half of the season with Boston before moving to Spalding, where he did OK.

“With Spalding stepping up a league, he thought he would just be a bit-part player. He’s still young and needs as much football as possible.

“He’s a strong lad who harasses defenders. His game has a few rough edges, which we will knock off. He is a really good addition.”

Creasey is working hard to secure two more signings which he says would be “major coups” for the club.

He said: “We would like to bring in at least two more players. I’ve been talking to a couple of players who, if they come off, would be a major coup. We would be delighted to get them. We need a striker and midfielder to balance the squad.”

Wisbech have confirmed three pre-season games for July. They will host King’s Lynn Town (July 12), Colney Heath (July 19) and Mildenhall Town (July 19).
