Wisbech Town will be looking to banish some demons when they host Thurnby Nirvana in the United Counties League on Saturday.

The Fenmen go into the game on the back of six wins on the bounce but they were thumped 4-1 by Thurnby in August.

Manager Dick Creasey said: “If we have had one truly poor performance this season, that was it.

“We were poor from start to finish and got we deserved ... a hiding.

“They have just gone above us in the league and will come here full of confidence. It’s a big match. We will be at full strength so I’m going to have a selection headache.”

Billy Smith bagged a brace and Danny Beaumont scored as Wisbech beat Wellingborough Town 3-1 on Saturday.

Creasey said: “We were not quite as fluent as we have been but the good thing is we still had something in the tank.

“I said to the lads after the game we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground. If you start shouting about how good you are this game will kick you where it hurts.”
