Despite dominating the first half with some fantastic passing and hard work in midfield, they were 1-0 down at the interval.

But Wisbech stuck to their tactics and maintained high levels of possession, before equalising with a well-worked goal from Ellie Padmore.

And they sealed a 2-1 victory thanks to a clinical short corner strike from Issy Oldershaw-Ellis, who took the player of the match award.

The seconds earned local bragging rights at March thanks to a 4-1 triumph.

Tia Bideau opened the scoring and Louise Sandall made it 2-0 from a well-worked short corner move.

Sandall went on to score twice more to complete her hat-trick, before the home side hit back for a consolation goal on a breakaway.

Rhianna Regan was named player of the match after some good work in attack, linking well with Bideau.

The thirds were edged out by Newmarket fourths, going down 2-1.

Wisbech looked the stronger of the two sides in the first half, but were caught out when pressing high as the hosts opened the scoring.

Newcomer Oliwia Bolka levelled after the restart – on the way to the player of the match award – and, along with Steph Garner continued to hassle the home keeper, as Lisa Jackson fired a clean strike just wide.

Nancy Davies had several shots on target, but was denied by a double save as Wisbech finished empty handed.

The men’s third team were left wondering what might have been as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Alford.

They began well and took the lead within 10 minutes with a well-taken finish from Lewis Jackson.

But Alford started the second half the better and soon levelled, before netting again to take the points.

Olly Mitchell was named man of the match for Wisbech.

The fourths travelled to table-topping Kettering thirds and had to play the first 50 minutes with only 10 men.

Kettering made them pay to build a 6-0 lead by half time, but Wisbech battled to the finish, chasing loose balls and working hard for each other.

Their efforts proved in vain in a record-breaking 19-0 defeat, but the spirit shown felt like a moral victory.
