WISBECH Cricket Club picked up their second league title of the season as their Fourths condemned March XI to relegation after Saturday’s vital final-day derby.

A six-wicket victory ensured Wisbech picked up the CCA Junior League 4A title and sent rivals March down in the process.

Despite 75 from Nathan Foad, March struggled to 130-8 and Wisbech made relatively light work of reaching their target.

Ecstatic Wisbech XI captain Martin Parrin said: “It was just nice to play March knowing we could clinch the league with victory.

“It makes it that extra bit special to cap off a great season with a win against our rivals.

“I was quietly confident before the game but I thought the same when we went there and we only drew.

“It’s been a brilliant season for the team as we’ve got a lot of youngsters in our side but they’ve coped excellently. With the help of the older players too it’s really been a great achievement.”

March XI 130-8 (Nathan Foad 75) (Martin Parrin 3-18)

Wisbech XI 131-4 (Tom Coates 56 not out) (Jacob Gray 1-22)
