Youngster James leads the way as Wisbech Tennis Club toast successful summer

YOUNG star James Clarke shows off his silverware after Wisbech Tennis Club sealed a successful summer season with finals and presentations.

The tennis talent was presented with the Peter Peukert Memorial Trophy by Fay Peukert after being named as the overall junior winner and the most improved player.

Fellow youngsters Alina Skock, Anya Robins, Kevin Huong, Joe Gill and Lorna Cochrane were also triumphant in their respective age groups.

The club also staged their adult finals, with ladies’ singles champion Margaret Pendall retaining her crown by beating Sue Beel. James Newton won the men’s singles championship by defeating last year’s winner Gary Fitzjohn.

An American tournament was contested by 20 players, with Sue Pitcher and Jac Goult claiming the honours.
