Steve Appleby’s men made a bright start to the game with Scott Johnson having a shot from the edge of the box pushed away for a corner before Jackson missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock.

The striker broke the offside trap and was clean through on goal but missed the target.

Norwich United, who had rarely threatened, took the lead against the run of play.

Ian Hunter capitalised on a misplaced pass from Stacy Cartwright and put the ball past Lea Jordan at the second attempt.

Wisbech started the second half with more purpose and were soon level through Callum Reed.

Matt Lunn created the goal with a jinking run which took him past several Norwich defenders and the goalkeeper, who looked to have taken him out.

The loose ball fell to Reed, who stroked the ball into an unguarded net, sparing the referee a difficult decision.

The away side once again went ahead through Jordan Blyth, who found himself in acres of room in the Wisbech box following a neat passing move and slotted the ball past Jordan.

The Fenmen once again clawed back the deficit through Jackson, who scored his second goal in consecutive games since signing from Swaffham Town.

The striker showed his predatory instincts, pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area before turning sharply and placing the ball in the bottom corner from close range.

Wisbech had the chance to claim the win in inury time but Jon Fairweather’s header agonisingly rebounded off the crossbar to safety.

The draw leaves Wisbech Town sixth in Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division. Their next league game is against Ely City at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium.
