Our Sunday evening stroll led us to the family-friendly bistro, tucked away on the cobbles of Green Street.

The contemporary European chain dishes up separate breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus.

“It’s my favourite time of day to be here…it’s magic,” the waitress tells us as we escape the plummeting January temperatures.

Chic decor with pastel blue sofas, statement chandeliers and eye-grabbing art pieces greet us.

The English country vibe could have easily transported us to the Cotswolds, with rattan chairs and comfy cushions.

The branch was only decorated five weeks ago and is easy on the eye.

A relaxing soundtrack of vintage 1940s swing and jazz plays in the background as dim lights reflect an ambient weekend atmosphere.

We start with a Bill’s Collins Long cocktail that has a fruity and refreshing taste consisting of Wyborowa vodka, rhubarb liquer, lime grapefruit bitters and pink lemonade.

It was the perfect choice to soak up the sharer platter with, which was the first dish sampled between the three of us.

Crispy calamari, devilled chicken skewers and a tzatziki red pepper dip carried a spicy kick while the crunchy tortillas were a great alternative to save room for main and desserts. It could have been easy to over indulge in the sharer platter.

The Sunday evening special of the 10oz sirloin steak didn’t disappoint, either.

The fresh flavour of the mixed side salad along with roasted tomatoes and purée was the perfect combined taste to compliment the steak.

The hamburger with cheese and bacon accompanied by sweet potato fries was faultless, too; one of the best burgers we’ve had.

On to desserts and a tantalising trio of a brownie, lemon meringue served in a glass and mini doughnuts were the best choice for us to share. How could we resist?

The warm chocolate brownie with ice cream tasted like heaven on a plate, while melt in the mouth cinnamon doughnuts with gooey caramel sauce were reminiscent of Christmas treats shared on a wintry night.

Waitresses were attentive and more than happy to help with recommendations for the best dishes - with nothing seeming a hassle.
