THE Friends of St Wendreda’s Church is holding an open day on Saturday July 17 so visitors can tour the internationally famous building.

Tours will take place at 10.30am and 1.30pm and the guide is Fenland historian Trevor Bevis.

The tour costs �2.50 and will go towards the Friends’ funds. It includes tea, coffee and biscuits in the church hall.

The Friends raise funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the 13th-century church.

More than �100,000 has been spent over the years restoring the roof, eliminating death watch beetle and reducing pressure on the clerestory walls.
