CHARACTERS from children’s books will come alive on Saturday for the annual Doddington Carnival.
The day kicks off with a fancy dress competition and float judging from 9.45am before a parade around the village starting at 10.30am, led by prince Nicholas Lambert and princess Sophie Gillett.
The carnival moves to the recreation field, in Benwick Road, for the afternoon with the popular soap box derby and a packed agenda of races for children and parents. Gates open at 1.30pm.
This year’s scarecrow competition is also based on the carnival theme, Children’s books, with 12 entries around the village.
The winner will receive a £10 voucher to spend at Skylark Garden Centre, with runners-up prizes of a family swimming voucher and a £5 book token.
