The cathedral choir and the Ely Imps will be joined on stage by composer and musician, Patrick Brandon and his jazz band to kick off the festive season in style.

The upbeat programme will include well known Christmas tunes plus seasonal favourites from stage and screen including Winter Wonderland, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Chestnuts Roasting and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.

The concert at 7.30pm will be the first opportunity to view the magnificent 35ft fully decorated Christmas tree which will provide the backdrop while over 100 metres of Christmas lights adorning the length of the Cathedral’s magnificent nave.

Tickets are priced at £20, £15 and £10 from Ely Cathedral Box Office 01353 660349 or online from www.elycathedral.org

*Earlier in the day, hundreds of people will raise the roof of the cathedral at this year’s Papworth Hospital charity carol service.

Following on from the success of last year - when £5,000 was raised - Papworth Hospital Charity is hoping to see even more supporters turn out to the carol service at 11am.

Supporters will have the chance to not only sing along to their favourite Christmas carols, but also to see the talented Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers perform.

Tickets range from £12.50 to £15. To book, call Marion Papadopoulo at Papworth Hospital Charity on 01480 364237.
