JH Adams and Sons ironmongers is throwing open its doors to the public this month.

On July 19 and 20 the former ironmongers, in Main Street, Littleport, will celebrate its conversion from shop to heritage centre with a display of memories and artefacts from years gone by.

The shop was been an ever-present feature of the village street-scene for more than 100 years before it finally closed its doors in 2010.

The open event runs across both days, from 10am-4pm.

A spokesman said: “The centre will be Littleport’s principal venue for exhibitions and displays which will highlight all aspects of our town’s history.

“Residents and visitors can also look forward to a range of exciting special events featuring a range of fascinating Fenland history and heritage subjects. “The premises will also be an information point for local and regional events of interest. There will be a wide range of local interest books for sale, as well as exhibitions of fenland arts and crafts.”

“Come inside and talk to us. Tell us about the things that you would like to see happening in here.”
