Paddington will be the special guest when Newmarket Racecourses holds its first Teddy Bears Picnic, this weekend.

Teddy Bears Picnic ‘Summer Saturday’ is this Saturday, with a bouncy castle, bouncy slide, garden games, soft play and toddle bouncer, plus appearances at regular intervals by Paddington.

With accompanied under-18s admitted free, and adult admission from £9, a value-for-money day out is guaranteed.

Amy Starkey, director of Jockey Club Racecourses East Region, said: “Families have already enjoyed many weekends of great fun on the Adnams July Course, combining exciting sport and off-track entertainment.

“Teddy Bears Picnic day, including appearances by Paddington, is another lovely opportunity for visitors to enjoy a family day out.

“Spectators are encouraged to bring along their teddy bears and they can enjoy their marmalade sandwiches in the Family Enclosure.”

The feature race on Saturday is the Betway Price Blitz Stakes. The first race is at 1.40pm, with gates open two hours before.

A family of two adults and any number of children pay a total of £18 for the Family Enclosure, while the Premier Enclosure – with tickets ordered in advance – is £45.

The Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure – for the same family of two adults with children – is under £29.

On-the-day admission for adults: Premier £25 (from £18.75 in advance); Grandstand & Paddock £16 (from £12 in advance); Family £9.
