More than 1,000 pop and hip-hop lovers enjoyed a nostalgic throwback last night as American rapper Nelly brought his UK tour to the Cambridge Corn Exchange.
Performing his biggest hits including ‘Dilemma’, ‘Just A Dream’ and the one everybody seemed to be waiting for, ‘Hot In Here’, he seemed right at home on the stage.
With his fans singing, rapping and bouncing along to each track, it was a much-anticipated treat to see the Grammy Award-winner perform in Cambridge, on the penultimate night of 19-show run across the country.
Supported by US R&B/hip-hop artist Sir The Baptist, who energised the crowd with re-interpretations of popular hits and his own gospel-influenced intellectual hip-hop, the venue was busy straight away.
After his set, we caught up with the Chicago-based artist to talk influences, touring with one of his biggest musical heroes and why he’s giving hip-hop a more positive message….
