A FANTASTIC night of live music will take place in Welney next month to raise money for the Fenland Road Safety Campaign (Charlotte’s Way).

Trevor ‘Oggy’ Hogg and friends will play a mix of old fashioned rock’n’ roll with a large slice of punk at the Lamb and Flag pub on Saturday November 5.

And in a touching tribute they will perform under the stage name of Charlotte’s Lemon Flag - the name Charlotte Walker used to call the pub - on the night.

It was the death of the nine-year-old in 2008 that sparked the campaign, set up by Graham Chappell, after the car she was travelling in plunged into the icy rivers of the Sixteen Foot.

Thousands of pounds have already been raised to support Mr Chappell’s dream of making Fenland’s roads safer with the night’s entertainment expected to further boost funds.

‘Oggy’ and friends will perform self-written tracks from his latest CD ‘In a Nightmare, Living the Dream’ and copies sold on the night will go towards the campaign.

Trevor, who has terminal lung cancer, last year launched his 19 track CD Memoirs of a Crashing Soul to raise money for the cancer care treatment unit and palliative care fund at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn.

Mr Hogg started writing his CD about six months before he was diagnosed with cancer.

“I was writing songs about death,” he said. “It was weird. I didn’t realise at the time what would happen.

“But my illness has given me something to focus on. And although I’m living a nightmare I’m also living a dream - writing songs is something I’ve always wanted to do.”
