One of Europe’s top banjo players will be the star attraction when Upwell Methodist Church hosts its two-day Festival of Music and Spring Flowers on April 12-13.

Sean Moyses has mastered the ukulele, mandolin, five-string banjo, plectrum banjo, guitar and uke-banjo.

He has appeared with the famous Pasadena Roof Orchestra and has performed major concerts,television and radio broadcasts not only in England but in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland and Germany.

Sean has guested with The Barrelhouse Jazzband, Papa Bue’s Viking Jazzband, Joe Wulf’s Gentlemen of Swing, The Best of British Jazz Gala, The Aces of Syncopation and The European Top Eight.

Sean will be supported buy local ukulele group Teddy’s Boys, who were set up in memory of Ted Skelton.

The concert takes place on April 12 at 7pm. Tickets, which include a buffet supper, are £8 (£9 on the door) and are available from Jane Hurst on 01945 588282.

The church and gardens will be open on both days with the coffee bar serving tea, coffee and cakes.

On April 12, there will be a craft fair in the rear hall with various stalls from 10am-4pm, a music workshop for children in the church from 10.30-11.30am and lunch from 11.30am-1pm.

In the afternoon, there will be live music in the church with activities for children in the choir vestry from 2-4pm.

The following day, community hymn singing will take place at 10.15am and Rev David Ely will lead the Palm Sunday service at 10.30am.

James Trundle will play the organ and piano in the church between 2-3pm and the church and gardens will be open from 2-5pm.
