A ROCK adaptation of the controversial 19th Century play Spring Awakening is being performed by RATz at The Angles Theatre in Wisbech.

The play, celebrating the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood, blends challenging subject matter on teenage morals and sexuality, with some equally challenging but exciting rock ‘n’ roll by Duncan Sheik. The book and lyrics are by Steven Sater.

The 1891 play was originally banned in Germany but in 2007 it received 11 Tony Award nominations, winning eight, including Tonys for the best musical, direction, book, score and featured actor. The show also won four Drama Desk Awards, while its London production won four Olivier Awards.

RATz, The Angles Theatre’s in-house company, will present the award-winning musical from next Wednesday until Saturday March 12. The production is suitable for those age 14 and over.

Tickets cost 11 (9 concessions). To book, contact the theatre on 01945 474447 or e-mail ratz@anglestheatre.co.uk
