Soham celebrated VE day on Saturday with an exhibition commemorating the end of the First World War.

The free event which was hosted by Soham Heritage and Tourism Group took place on Saturday, June 27 from 10am to midday and offered refreshments as well as a number of children’s activities, music and costumes.

Elizabeth Johnston, Vice Chairman of Soham Town Council, said that the event’s organisers have been “blown away” by the attendance.

“It was such a lovely day and we thought everyone would go to the seaside, but we were really pleased that it was well attended from start to finish.

“The exhibition serves as a living memory for a lot of people”, she added.
