SUMMER fun returns to Chatteris this month with four shows set to entertain youngsters throughout August.

The four shows are organised by Chatteris Town Council - and they’re all free to attend.

Joanna Melton, town clerk, said: “The entertainment will last for about 50 minutes and although it is aimed at three to nine-year-olds it should appeal to anyone who is young at heart.

“The entertainers performing the shows will be familiar to those who have attended over the years but there is little need to change a winning formula, especially as a new generation of children is introduced to the fun each year.”

Mad-cap actor Philip Sherman of Booster Cushion Theatre will launch this year’s series of shows next Friday (August 5) with Old MacDonald’s Farm And The Three Pigs Plus... - and expect plenty of opportunities for children to be involved in the story telling capers.

On August 12 Chatteris-based Phoenix Circus School will give a show demonstrating skills and will invite youngsters to try their hand a juggling and plate spinning.

The following Friday, the ever-popular Mr Fuzzy will return with a new summer show featuring Eddy the mind reading teddy.

The series concludes on August 26 with a production by Bangers and Mash Theatre Company, which is returning to Chatteris after a few years away. It will perform its version of The Frog Prince.

Shows will be performed at 11am on Fridays in the Bricstan Rooms at the rear of the parish church. Youngsters must be accompanied by an adult.

Mrs Melton said: “There is no need to book for the shows, just turn up on the day and enjoy the fun.”
