A host of voices will join forces for a rousing programme of music performed with the backdrop of Ely Cathedral.
On Saturday May 13 at 5pm more than 200 singers from church choirs in the Cambridgeshire area will combine in the cathedral for the annual festival of choirs.
The annual Ely Festival of Church Music with the mass choir will be conducted by Sarah MacDonald, director of music at Selwyn College, Cambridge, and director of the Ely Cathedral girls’ choir.
The theme of the festival is the 500th anniversary of the start of the Reformation, with an emphasis on the moves towards unity in diversity since then.
The music has been selected from the new RSCM Festival Book for 2017, ‘Reform and Renewal’, and organisers say it promises to be a most uplifting and enjoyable service, both musically and spiritually.
