A SINGING sensation from March is one step away from a top recording contract.

Former Cambridgeshire’s Got Talent winner Aimee Peart-Webb has got through to the final at the prestigious UK Unsigned competition.

She will now follow in the footsteps of previous contestants Leona Lewis, Katie Melua and N-Dubz as she prepares to wow the judges at the Shepherd’s Bush Arena on July 4.

Aimee said she had some big shoes to fill to win the contest.

The teenager, who is currently studying for her A Levels, said: “I feel lucky to have got this far and been embraced by the judges.

“I have always loved singing and entered into competitions when I was just a little girl. There is something about being on stage. When I haven’t been on stage for a while, it feels weird.”

Aimee, of Elm Road, March, started to hum tunes when she was just three years old and was putting herself forward for competitions when she was four.

Even though she has a string awards to her name and several big gigs behind her, she admits to thinking ‘what am I doing here’ when she climbed on to the stage at UK Unsigned.

However, she needn’t have been so modest as she sailed through at the semi-final on June 6.

Mum Barbara Peart-Webb said she is “very proud” of her daughter. She added: “She loves performing and has been singing since she was three years old. She is a definite talent.”
